Everyone in our community is going through something hard. These guidelines exist so it stays a safe place to talk. By joining, you agree to follow them.
The rules
- You must be 18 or over.
- Be kind. Disagree respectfully. No bullying, harassment, threats, hate speech or personal attacks.
- Protect people's privacy, including your own. Don't name, describe or share photos of your ex, your children or anyone else who could be identified. Don't share anyone's contact details. Never share what another member has told you outside the community.
- Never share family court documents or details of court cases involving children. Publishing these is against the law in England and Wales.
- Share experiences, not advice. It's fine to say what worked for you. Don't present yourself as giving professional legal, financial or medical advice unless you're a verified professional in our "Ask a coach" or expert rooms.
- Be honest. Don't post things you know are untrue about other people.
- No selling or spam. Don't advertise services or products, share referral links, or send unsolicited private messages.
- Nothing unlawful, explicit or graphic.
Staying anonymous
You can use a nickname, and your real name, email address and phone number are never shown to other members. To keep it that way, avoid posting details that could identify you, such as where you work, your street, or your children's school. We know who our members are behind the scenes, so we can act on serious concerns.
Coaches and experts
Verified divorce coaches and invited experts are clearly badged. They're here to help in the open, not to sell. They won't post links to their own services or message you privately unless you ask them to. If one does, please report it.
Reporting a problem
If you see something that breaks these rules or worries you, report the message in the app, tell a moderator, or email hello@divorcd.com. Reports are confidential. We review them as quickly as we can.
What our moderators do
- Remove posts that break these guidelines.
- Give warnings, temporarily mute members, or remove members who seriously or repeatedly break the rules.
- Use automatic filters to block some harmful content before it's posted.
If you think a moderation decision was wrong, email hello@divorcd.com and someone who wasn't involved will look at it again.
If someone is at risk
If a member says something that makes us believe they, a child or someone else is at serious risk of harm, we will act to keep them safe. That may include reaching out to the member privately, sharing support services, and, where we believe it's necessary, passing information to emergency services or other authorities. We'll only do this when we genuinely believe someone's safety is at risk. Read our full safeguarding policy.
If you need help right now: in an emergency, call 999. Samaritans are free, any time, on 116 123. The National Domestic Abuse Helpline is free and open 24 hours on 0808 2000 247. Our community is not a crisis service.
